Heart Behind Wild Words – Ep.030
In this episode I give myself permission to do it differently. I hit record and talked from the heart all about why I do what I do and introduce my new program, Wild Words.
This is going to be a little bit different episode than I normally do. And it might be a little unconventional, but hey, I am all for unconventional, right? And so I am, I’ve been sitting here thinking about what should I do a podcast on? And not only do my clients also say, Hey, sometimes I don’t really know what to say.
And I could go into strategy of Hey, you could look at your, your throat in human design. Is it defined or is it undefined? If it’s undefined, you might not feel like you have consistent energy to speak and you might have a lot more days of, I don’t really know what to say. I need to put a podcast out or I need to.
Opposed. And you’re coming from a place of, I have to remain quote unquote consistent. I could go on and on. I could create a whole podcast around my beliefs around consistency and how sometimes I feel like as certain astrology signs, or even human design signs, it can really hinder you and cause a lot more drama than it needs to.
I could go into your energy type, right? I could do all of these things. I could go into strategy, I could talk about NLP and creating content and all these things. And as I was sitting here for 10 minutes trying to figure out what do I want to record a podcast episode on, I went back to the basics and I said, what if I just talked about whatever I want to talk about today?
And what if it didn’t have to fit in a box? What if it didn’t have to include strategy or astrology or human design or content or marketing? What if it could just be whatever I want to talk about? And I gave myself permission because I’m constantly giving my clients. Permission all day long, and it’s not like they need my permission, but sometimes they just need their own permission, and I’m giving them some of my energy to believe in themselves and see them as the incredible beings that they are, right?
And I have that defined G Center, I will throw in some human design, right? I have that defined G Center, and I am here to show other people who they really are and remind them who they really are, but I really sometimes don’t give myself that permission. So this episode is going to be just me introducing myself and telling you what it is that I’m about why I decided to create this crazy podcast and decide to become a freaking entrepreneur.
US entrepreneurs we’re a little bit of craziness, right? We’re crazy. We decided, hey, I’m gonna leave this very well paying cushiony job. And I’m going to go out and decide to do it all on my own, with no help, and just decide that, I’m going to make it happen. And we created so much more work for ourselves, and we decided to wear all of the hats all of these things, and I never really tell people my story.
I never and it’s not that I have some crazy, rags to riches story or anything like that, but I just think that sometimes we need to be reminded of our passion and why we’re doing what we’re doing. And yesterday, I’ll just go right in, right into this. Yesterday. I sent an email after something happened, and basically, I have created a new program called Wild Words, and I am so excited about this program, and I was creating some of the marketing content for this program, and one of them including the Facebook banner.
And the vibes for this program and just my brand in general are very much 70s theme. I love the daisies. I even have you can’t see right now because I’m, you’re listening, but I have a daisy tattoo on my arm. Daisies are, I call them my god wink. They just always show up. They’re my sign. And, They feel very much 70s.
And when I worked with a brand I don’t even know what you would call her a creative brand director, maybe when I worked with her several years ago and we came up with the concept of this podcast, the no fart around show. We also came up with the opposite of it, of like flowers and how, farts and flowers are opposite, but I, my, my aesthetic is very 70s.
It’s very. I love flare leg jeans. I love high waisted jeans. I, and again, I love daisies. And you think of groovy and colors and all that, and that is 100 percent my aesthetic. Were trying to fit together my aesthetic with Farts. And we came up with, protesting signs. We did this whole thing, this whole brand shoot, all these things with very 70s themes.
And there was like pictures of me like sitting on a toilet taking my hand and fanning my face, being like, your marketing stinks. Does your marketing stink? It was so much fun. It was probably one of the coolest ideas ever. And I’ve, still have that as part of my brand.
The No Fartin Around Show. And so yesterday I was creating this, the branding for it. And I had a photo of me where I am holding up a piece of cardboard as I’m, and basically I have on these orange bell bottom pants, super cute. And I’m standing in a whole, like a whole bunch of daisies behind me.
And the sign said, um, shifts, not shards. And that’s a whole different thing. But I used to have something called the shard method and saying this is how you’re currently marketing. We need, we don’t need to do sharding. We need to do shifting. And I don’t really do that anymore, but I would love this photo of me.
I said, so I’m going to go in Canva and I’m going to, erase the words on it. And I want to do another slogan. And so I went to. Pinterest, because I was like, I don’t know any protest slogans around marketing. What can I do? So I go to Pinterest and I type in, no joke, I type in protest sign marketing, thinking that Maybe some marketing quotes would come up, like I don’t know.
But what ended up coming up were tons of different protest signs, varying from like climate change to school policy, all these different things. And When I say that I just started bawling my eyes out reading these signs, I am not lying. I, it hit me so hard. And then what’s also funny, I checked the astrology yesterday and realized that the moon was in Aquarius yesterday and I have an Aquarius moon.
It was literally bright on top of my natal moon. And it was in Aquarius, which is the humanitarian sign. And we’re in the age of Aquarius right now. And Aquarius rules, revolution, rebellion, protest, humanitarian, innovation, it rules all those things. I was like, wow, this is so fitting. I cannot make this up.
Astrology is so freaking crazy. But as I was reading all of these protest signs, one of them hit me so hard in the feels. And I just sat there and sobbed. And ugly sobbed. It wasn’t just a beautiful little tear rolling down my cheek. I’m talking like could not breathe sobbed. And I also somewhat have a head cold right now.
I’m sure you can hear it. I sound a little nasally. So it was even horrible. It was even worse. It was so horrible because I have this head cold. I can barely breathe anyway. And then I started crying and it just was not a good day. But the protest sign was a little girl. And it basically it wasn’t a little girl.
I would say like teenager range. And it said, her sign said, I march now because someone else marched for me first.
Just think about that for a second. I march now because somebody else marched for me first.
That hit me so hard. And what came up for me was first the energy of anger. of why she shouldn’t be marching now. The person who marched for her first that should it, why is she still having to march, right? That’s what came up. But then it also came up the energy of passion. I just got so passionate and it was this passion to fight for women in particular.
But incredible people that I get to witness and serve every single day. Just to even give some more back backstory, I was at a conference this past weekend, I was at a conference, and I was there with 20 other women incredible women, Pretty much everyone I was talking to was actually a lot of fun pretty much everyone there was like oh my god Ashley, you know so much about astrology read my chart and blah blah blah and what do you say about this?
I’m like, oh you can use it in your content But I felt like the star of the show, which was amazing I definitely wasn’t the star of the show, but I just felt so seen and recognized and it was so so awesome I could talk about astrology human design and marketing and content all day long. It is Um, but as I was talking to these women, I cannot tell you how many times I heard from pretty much everyone that they just want to shake people.
They’re like, Oh my gosh, I just want to shake them and get them to care so deeply about what I care about. Or they were saying, I’m just so passionate for what I do, but I have a really hard time articulating it to people where they don’t think, where they don’t think I’m coming off as intense. She’s one girl particularly I was talking to that had a lot of Scorpio energy was telling me, she’s people just call me so intense.
Like they just think I’m overbearing and I’m she didn’t actually use the word overbearing. That’s more my word, but intense is what she used. And she said, I just care so much about what I’m doing, and I just want to talk about it all day long, but people tell me I’m too much, or that I’m, it’s too intensive, or she’s or I can’t really articulate it or explain it in a way that makes them care about it, or the way that makes them truly understand how transformational I am.
My work is and then sometimes I feel or like sometimes I hear as well and even heard on this at this event that they feel like they have all the answers to their ideal clients problems and they’re constantly and like they’re constantly putting out content about it and people are saying, Oh, my gosh, this was so helpful, but no one’s actually paying to work with them like no one’s actually paying for them to help them get the transformation.
They’re just taking their bits and pieces of information that they’re talking about online. And these people aren’t actually getting transformation. They’re just, getting inspiration with this content. And I hear this all the time. And it’s funny because I also used to feel this way.
I really did used to feel this way. Not so much now, but I really did. Pretty much every single one of my clients has said this to me as well. And here’s the thing, because I know that my people are the change makers. My people are the unconventional thinkers. My people are the ones that have unique perspectives that could quite literally shake paradigms and change the world.
They’re, my people are the ones that are breaking generational patterns. They’re the ones who are taking leaps of faith and they’re the ones who are just, really investing in other people and giving services that are of immense value, right? I also know that my people are the ones that protest sign was made about.
They’re the ones that, want to go first. They have a desire to go first. And some of them are already taking action towards that. But a lot of them, the work that they’re doing is only being done behind the scenes. They desire so much to go first and create ripple effects that they might not even get to witness but still do without hesitation.
However, marketing and content feels like this huge watered down roadblock for them. They tell me all the time that the transformation they provide is so powerful, but when they start talking about it, it doesn’t, that powerfulness doesn’t translate into words on a screen. And it’s costing them clients and it’s causing them to feel super frustrated and sometimes It’s horrible because, seriously, the people that I work with and the people in my circle are so smart and genius and incredible and intuitive and, oh my gosh, I cannot, I could go on and on, right?
They’re so amazing, but their transformation and their powerful results and what they’re doing doesn’t, that power doesn’t translate online when they go to write content or when they go to talk about content. And it gets them very frustrated and then they doubt themselves because they’re thinking, or I would even say a little bit of doubt, but sometimes even bitterness or frustration because they look and they’re seeing what everybody else is doing.
And they’re like, why are all of these people paying attention to all these other people that. aren’t really giving them the transformation that they desire. And I don’t want to say that’s a bad thing. I really truly, I know that sounds really judgy and it sounds egotistical, but it’s the truth.
The amount of people that I have seen behind the scenes, they get just so frustrated at, the coaching industry or whatever. And they’re so mad that they’re like, I’m so I want to almost save my clients. I want to save these people because I’m so tired of them working with all these other coaches that are charging.
Tons and tons of money, and they’re not actually getting a result, and they’re creating codependency relationships, and I’m serious, and this is the nasty behind the scenes thing, and you don’t really see this talked about online, because if you talk about it online, or if people are, this open about these things online, they’re seen as egotistical, or they’re gaslit into being stop caring what other people think stop paying attention to other people, right?
But the truth is, we’re humans. We’re humans and we have these emotions and sometimes it is frustrating. We can choose to not be frustrated. I get that. But sometimes it is frustrating and shoving that down, shoving that frustration down is not doing you any favors, right? And going through this whole kind of process yesterday with this process sign and literally like bawling my eyes out for hours, I realized that this really is my mission.
And I really want to be able to help people, women in particular, use their voices. I want them to be able To show up confidently and be able to articulate what they do in a way where it lands with their perfect fit clients and in a way where they can take their unique status quo disruptive or against status quo disruptive insights and be able to speak about them online in a way Where they don’t seem like an asshole, basically.
And that’s, I say that all the time. My clients tell me all the time I really want to say what I want to say without sounding like an asshole. Because I feel like if I do this, it’s going to trigger, if I say exactly what I want to say, it’s going to trigger a lot of people, and then I’m going to get cancelled, and I’m telling you, it’s nuts.
I see, I hear it and see it all the time. And there really is a way to say something in a firm and transformational way without sounding like a jerk, basically. And I realize that this is my mission, and as I’ve been creating this program, Wild Words, I was like, it’s for my wild women.
It’s for the women who want to just like basically run wild on the internet. They want their words to run wild on the internet and be beautiful, like a wildflower, right? We all can look at a field of wildflowers and all in its beauty, and we’re not triggered by it. We’re not angry by it. And, it was funny because as I was creating this as well, just on the visual branding side, I was like, Rachel, my business, another business coach, I guess I could call her my business partner.
She was basically saying, what if we did wildfire? It spreads like wildfire. And I was like, I actually don’t want to do wildfire because wildfire feels very disgusting. It’s destructive to me, right? Like when you wildfire, like fire can be very beautiful, but imagine like a wildfire devastating homes.
And I was like, my people’s words aren’t meant to devastate. They’re meant to bring beauty and awe and transformation. And I just love the visual of a wildflower because nobody planted that wildflower. It just bloomed where it was and it brought beauty and people are in all of a field of wildflowers.
And as I was creating this program, wild words I was thinking of a tagline for it. And, of course, 1 of the things is 1 of the desires the main desires that my people want is to be able to have content that does the selling for them, right? A lot of my clients or a lot of my people have been able to get clients through referrals and get clients through large amounts of publicity of being able, like visibility of being able to network and different things like that.
But it’s a lot for them, especially my projectors. A lot of my projector clients are like, Oh my gosh, it’s, I love connecting with people, but it’s it drains my energy because it’s so much, I really want to be able to create content that when I post, I’m getting clients and I’m getting resold clients and perfect fit clients.
And so, tagline creating wildly powerful content. that sells for you, which is amazing. And it’s a great tagline. And even though I know that is the main desire of my clients, it’s also just as important for my clients to not only use their voices, but to have their voice and wild ideas valued, heard and respected.
And I realized this is why I’m here. And I have a lot of I can have a lot of stories I can tell about using your voice and how my voice was stifled for so long. And it’s also interesting because I have a open throat in human design, but it’s completely open. I have open throat. No gates, which means I have basically pure energy to mirror other people’s voices and reflect it back to them and amplify it wherever you have undefined centers in your chart is where you amplify other people’s energy in that area.
I am here to amplify other people’s voices. But the fact that it’s completely open and there’s no gates means there is no, how else I want to say, like there’s no there’s no influence of energy there. There’s no influence of energy there. I can quite literally come in with a completely open mind and open, and my Ajna is completely open.
I have no gates in my Ajna. I can come in with a completely open mind, open Ajna and open throat. And be able to take your crazy, wild, innovative, out of the box ideas, put them in a process, help you say them in a way that makes sense, and then also help you create words where you can amplify them out and speak them out.
And it’s just so fascinating because the more I learn about astrology, the more I learn about human design, I’m like, Oh my gosh, I am literally here to do marketing and messaging. I also have Jupiter in my ninth house of spirituality and higher education, and it’s in like the subconscious work, like behind it rules philosophy and subconscious and I’m like, Oh, I’m a certified.
Hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner, LaRogue Neurolinguistics Programming and I’m like, oh, this is fascinating and interesting and then Also, I’m like, oh my gosh in my Aquarius moon is in the fifth house of creativity and Aquarius rules Astrology and my moon is there. It’s like the more I think about this.
It’s oh my gosh, my passion really is Marketing and content, specifically content, as well as helping women use their voices to be heard and seen and paid. Paid well. My people want to be paid, right? Like it’s it’s not their main concern, but it’s a very big concern. So yeah, I wanted to share this episode with you because you might not know who I am.
You might have randomly found me, I don’t know, through Pinterest or someone else posting my podcast. And you might be like, I don’t even know who this chick is. Her podcast is called the no farting around show. That sounds fun. I’m totally fine. I promise. I’m sure you can tell by other episodes, but I’ve never actually sat down and talked about.
The heart behind what it is that I do and why I want to do it and really share a vulnerable podcast about it. But yeah, that is why I’m here. And, if you want to get even, you want to get like surface level, with me I’m a mom of two girls. I’m a wife. I’ve been married for, I think this year will be 10 years.
I live on a little coastal town in North Carolina. Yeah. I’m a Capricorn. We’ve talked about that many times on the podcast, but I love to laugh. My friends sometimes call me a sass hole because they seem very sassy in a very direct way, which cracks me up. And yeah, I love to read. I love to read smut and fantasy.
And I also am a speed reader, so I could read a book in a day probably. But yeah, those are also other fun, fun things about me. My energy is low, though, I promise. I usually am a lot more energetic. I have a head cold right now, but that is me. And that is why this podcast exists. And that is why I am an entrepreneur and what I am doing here in my goal for here.
And I think that you should unapologetically. market and talk about and just show up and share about what you’re doing all the time. I don’t think of marketing as selling. I think of marketing as showing up and sharing. When you show up and share about the things you love and what you’re passionate about, people just pay attention.
I’ll give you a great example. Just this past weekend, I was talking to a girl and she was going on some tangent about, I don’t even know. I quite truly did not understand at all what she was talking about. But her passion about it, I was just sitting there listening and shaking my head in all of her because of how passionate she was about what she was talking about.
And I think that people are like that in marketing. When you are so passionate about what you’re talking about and what you’re doing, people just pay attention. Yeah, so I think of marketing, show up and sharing. I’m very unconventional when it comes to, when it comes to marketing and There you go.
